On 28 November, a webinar dedicated to shorter all-oral TB treatment regimens and possible side effects took place. The event, organized by SMIT (Moldova), KNCV (Tajikistan), and the TB Europe Coalition within the COMBAT DR-TB interregional project funded by Unitaid, brought together 95 participants.
The webinar opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Valentina Vilc (NTP, Moldova) and Dr. Oktam Bobokhodjaiev (Tajikistan).
After that, Dr. Jennifer Furin, an infectious diseases clinician, medical anthropologist, and Director of Clinical Capacity Building for the Sentinel Project on Pediatric Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis, provided participants with a detailed overview of the clinical aspects of shorter all-oral TB treatment regimens and the management of adverse events. Following her presentation, Dr. Furin thoroughly answered participants’ questions.
The event also featured personal testimonies from people who had completed shorter treatment regimens in Moldova and Tajikistan, which offered valuable insights.
