A meeting for civil society representatives “Ensuring meaningful community engagement during the development of national funding requests for Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) in EECA in 2023” organised by the EECA Regional Platform took place during 25-26 April 2023 in Istanbul (Turkey).
Our colleague Lesya Tonkonoh introduced the participants with the technical assistance available to support community engagement in country dialogue and the funding request development process. Also, the TBEC representative spoke at a session on ensuring integration of the human rights component within the funding requests. At this session were also presented key concepts and recommendations, and best practices of integrating this component into HIV and tuberculosis funding requests applications.
In addition,
during the meeting were discussed the issues of inclusion of gender-sensitive
and gender-transformative approaches and interventions into finding
requests, Community System Strengthening
(CSS) including community-led monitoring,
technical issues of developing fuding requests and work with CCMs.
As part of the group work at the meeting, representatives of civil society and communities developed national action plans to ensure that community priorities are included in funding requests for GC7 and identified priority interventions for communities with a focus on rights and gender, and sustainability issues to be included into national funding requests.
