TBEC Programme Manager Lesya Tongonog presented a brief overview of the situation with diagnosis and access to treatment in Ukraine during the regional meeting on expanding access to HIV, viral hepatitis, and tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment. The meeting is taking place from 27 to 29 September in Almaty.
The Eurasian Community for Access to Treatment (ECAT) event was organized by the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition in Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ITPC EECA) with the support of the Health Advocacy Coalition (HAC).
Representatives of civil society organisations from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are present at the meeting.
Participants will meet with pharmaceutical companies ViiV Healthcare and Viatris (Mylan), as well as diagnostic test manufacturers Cepheid and Molbio to address topics such as drug registration challenges, pricing strategies for drugs and diagnostic tests, as well as the introduction of innovative drugs into the EECA region's market. The event also includes a training session on diagnostic tools, which will be conducted by a representative of Doctors Without Borders, and a session by Pavel Khaikin on the latest developments in the treatment of chronic hepatitis Delta virus.
The meeting is being held with the financial support of ITPC Global and the co-financing of “100% Life” - Network of PLHIV and the Alliance for Public Health within the framework of the SOS_2.0 project.
