The Kochon Prize dedicated to Ukraine was awarded on the eve of the UN HLM on TB in New York

With great pride for Ukraine, the Secretariat staff and TBEC Board members took part in the Kochon Prize ceremony that was dedicated to our country and was held on the eve of the UN High-Level Meeting on TB.

At the event organized in New York by the StopTB Partnership and its partners, the decisive efforts of Ukrainian doctors, community representatives, and governmental and civil society organisations in the fight against tuberculosis during the war were recognized. This year, the Kochon Prize was awarded to Yana Terleeva, the coordinator of Ukraine's National Tuberculosis Program, and doctors from the Chernihiv and Kherson regions of Ukraine. Our heartfelt congratulations extend to the laureates for this well-deserved award, and we express our gratitude to the event organisers for the reliable support of our Ukrainian colleagues!

In addition, as part of the event, the Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership announced the organizations that were successfully selected to participate in the 12th round of the Challenge Facility for Civil Society grant mechanism which is aimed at ensuring community engagement, protecting human rights, promoting gender equality, and increasing accountability. They also aim to shape political will for greater investments and innovations in overcoming tuberculosis.

In our region, among the winners from regional organizations, TBEC  and PAS Center are listed. Overall, in the next round of this project, 114 organizations from 38 countries worldwide will receive funding totaling $13.5 million. Congratulations to all the winners of this round, and best wishes for productive work to end  TB as quickly as possible!
